Bundle of Joy

There is only one thing I hate about newborn sessions...turning them down. This month I have turned away three sessions due to lack of availability. It is SO important to book newborn sessions well in advance to secure a spot. Consider booking in your second trimester if you are set on adorable squishy newborn images!

This mama booked with time to spare and I'm glad she did! This little bundle of joy was a doll. She happily slumbered as I posed her in various positions with barely a peep. Some gorgeous memories of a time that passes by too quickly.

If you are interested in a newborn session please be sure to plan ahead!

Seeing Double

Two little babies. Two adorable subjects. One amazing photo session.

These two gorgeous little guys were so teeny tiny but VERY cooperative. I'm sure that with twins not all moments are as peaceful as this, but I hope when it gets tough (and with two wee babes and a busy toddler it certainly will) that Mom and Dad can look back at these photos and remember the very early days and how far they have come!

Looking to book a newborn session? Please contact me in your third trimester. I only take a limited number of newborns each month and sometimes have to turn new mommies away. Please don't be disappointed and be sure to get on my calendar to ensure a session within the optimal newborn stage (1-14 days old).

Little? Maybe. Mighty? Absolutely!

I met baby R's Mom and Dad for a maternity session on a chilly spring evening and I connected with them quickly! They are such a great couple. Their story of a move halfway across the country (away from family) only to find that that had a baby on the way just struck a chord with me. Even though their families would be far away, they had each other, and they were so excited to meet their baby girl.

Little did they know that when their beautiful baby girl arrived that their whole world would be thrown upside down! Baby R was sent to Sick Kids, where she received amazing care for a very serious condition that limited her ability to eat and breath. Luckily, one month to the day after her arrival this baby girl came to the studio and she is doing remarkably well. Mom and Dad are adjusting to parenthood like champs! This is one special family and one very sweet baby girl!

I hope that these images serve as a memory of all that they have endured during the early days of her arrival. For a teeny, tiny little girl she sure is a tough cookie!

Precious.

How gorgeous is this baby girl? I sure do get to photograph some adorable little munchkins...but this one I almost missed out on!

This baby girl made her way into the world and Mom and Dad were quickly wrapped up in this gorgeous little girl that we didn't get to her session until she was 14 days old...in fact, I did a rare evening newborn session just to be sure to get it in amongst the other newborn sessions I had going on that week. Lucky for me she was such a precious (and cooperative) little bundle. She was SO easy going that I captured far fewer images than I normally do during a newborn session with just as much prop and drop variety. She was such a great little model!

Take a peek as this beautiful and easy going baby girl!

Fresh.

Oh. My. Gosh. There is nothing more adorable than a brand spanking new baby to snuggle and cuddle! I was lucky to meet this sweet little princess just 6 days after she made her arrival. Mama was overdue and I am sure she was very anxious to meet this beautiful baby girl, but after looking at this sweet face I am sure she knew that the wait was worth it!

I've spent the last 2 years focusing a lot more time on my newborn sessions and I just can't get enough! They are long and exhausting but the final product always makes me so excited to hand over the picture to a new mom and dad. Enjoy these sweet sleepy sneak peeks!

One Year Later!

I absolutely LOVE to photograph newborns...and this little man was one of my favourites! He was a sleeping bundle of joy (see for yourself)...and I have to say he was pretty awesome at his 1 year sessions too!

A little shy at first...and down right annoyed mid session, but I got him back on my side with cake at the end. In fact, we were pretty good buddies by the time he left...he reached out to me from mommy's arms (and in my books that is a BIG deal)!

Thanks to Mom and Dad for letting me be part of this milestone for this little man!

Growing Family

Is there anything sweeter than a growing family?

I got to spend a great morning with a family I have gotten to know pretty well over the past 2 years. Mom was really looking forward to belly photos and wanted to include her little man and hubby too and I couldn't think of a better way than a lifestyle session. I love watching families get all cozy on the couch together and  be fun and playful. We also managed to snap some studio style images too...fun to get the best of both worlds! Here is a peek at some fabulous images from the session...digging the black and white for this session.

I am really looking forward to meeting the newest addition to this family VERY soon!

January...New Year...and new babies!

Yikes, it's been a while since I blogged! The holidays were busy... add sickness (my little man was wiped for almost 2 weeks) and then me (almost a whole week)...and there was little time left for being on the computer!

January has been a busy month too! Back to work (teaching) means a LOT of long days and nights working on report cards. Throw in a few newborn sessions this month and I haven't had much time to do anything on the computer besides edit...hence the lack of blogginess.

The good news is I finally found a spare moment (the kids are both napping and my report cards are done) to share a sneak from a January session. I've been shooting newborns quite a lot over the past 2 years and it is a total favourite! Here are some sleepy moments from an otherwise mostly wide awake little one!

Enjoy!

Beautiful Baby Boy

Sometimes even the newest baby doesn't want to sleep for a session...this little guy was a CHAMP! He  was so sleepy and didn't mind me posing him one bit. It was such a pleasure to meet this family and be part of the very first days of this little guys life. I hope Mom and Dad love these photos as much as I do.They will make some gorgeous art to hang on their wall!

On another note, please be sure to book your newborn session EARLY! I had to turn down a few newborn sessions this fall because I was already booked. The best time to book is while you are pregnant. I can guarantee a spot if I have your due date, but I may not always be able to accommodate last minute bookings!
