Seeing Double

Two little babies. Two adorable subjects. One amazing photo session.

These two gorgeous little guys were so teeny tiny but VERY cooperative. I'm sure that with twins not all moments are as peaceful as this, but I hope when it gets tough (and with two wee babes and a busy toddler it certainly will) that Mom and Dad can look back at these photos and remember the very early days and how far they have come!

Looking to book a newborn session? Please contact me in your third trimester. I only take a limited number of newborns each month and sometimes have to turn new mommies away. Please don't be disappointed and be sure to get on my calendar to ensure a session within the optimal newborn stage (1-14 days old).

Twice as Nice!

I got the phone call to book a newborn session just days after these twin darlings came home. The remarkable thing about these two precious little babies is that they were not exactly the typical newborn session age. This baby girl and boy were already 2.5 months old when I got to photograph them (just days before their actual due date). What made this such an awesome experience was how relaxed Mom and Dad were. They welcomed me into their home and shared stories about how these two sweethearts came into the world. 

The household was relaxed and comfortable and the babies slept like champs the entire session. When either would even begin to startle Mom was able to sooth them instantly...just the sound of her voice made them peaceful. In fact, these two were so comforted by the sound of Mom and Dad talking they smiled constantly. I don't think I have ever captured so many smiles during a newborn session. 

What a great morning...and some wonderful memories for Mom and Dad!

Year in Review

Happy New Year everyone! Here's to a wonderful 2011!

Well, I have been trying for a couple of days to upload some of my favourite moments captured in 2010...with little luck! The uploader has allowed far fewer images than the 50 I picked to share. So, here is a very quick year in review from some of my sessions in 2010 (excluding the first few months of the 2010 - which were already archived) Enjoy!

Behind the Scenes

Some of my favourite moments while shooting babies are the moments just before or after capturing the set up and posed shot. These are the moments when mom or dad step in and calm a crying baby or try and make a little one giggle. There are a lot more of those moments when shooting twins - twice as many tears and twice as many giggles. When the these darling twin girls came to me they were no exception, they were so much fun and you could tell mom and dad would do anything to make them smile...here are a couple of the behind the scenes moments....

2 peas in a pod

The first time I photographed the Gidge girls they were only 19 days old. At 9 months old the girls were so much fun. They were so giggly and happy. It was amazing to see how totally connected these two little girls were to each other. If one smiled the other smiled, when one ate the other ate, when one pooped the other...well, you know.

When I was setting up shots I made sure that whatever I did with Rorie I did with Neila...and the end result is a whole pile of pictures where I couldn't tell them apart. They look so much alike but definitely have there own special personalities. These girls were so sweet...can't wait to capture them as they grow.

Take a look...can you tell them apart?? I am guessing mom and dad will be the only ones that will know for sure.
